From creator David Doub:
Demons in the Darkness is about a group of outsiders in High School in Texas during the late 90s.
While playing the Roleplay Game “Demons in The Darkness” they manage to harness all their frustration and rage to give birth to a dark creature that the teenagers have to spend the rest of the story figuring out how to stop.
Demons in the Darkness is inspired by the hysteria of the 80s and 90s where music, roleplaying games, video games and lot of other forms of entertainment were considered evil and corrupting the youth.
Demons in the Darkness is also about bullying and the collateral damage bullying causes. It’s about children as they awkwardly grow into adults, as they flail about trying to understand their differences from the “norm”. It’s about the frustration of being different and accepting who you truly are.
