I’ve read this book as part of the Cybils book awards and would recommend it. The art is beautiful, the story touching. For those who are interested in Japan during WWII, this is a moving story about the history of a family. The great-grandmother is a pearl diver who is seen by a fisherman. They fall in love and marry. The story is about war trauma, loyalty, and Hibakusha survivors of Hiroshima bombing in WWII. Highly recommend this book which was nominated for an Eisner award, and Cybils book award in 2024.
