The Drawing Together community convened once again on Sunday, August 28. Our session was led by Alice Jaggers. Alice is a watercolor and comics artist, Mom to Riley, co-editor of the Graphic Medicine website, and host of the Graphic Medicine podcast. She is also a former medical librarian. Alice first became obsessed with graphic medicine in 2015 and has not stopped since!

Alice read three passages intended to invoke an emotion. Our instruction was to listen to the passage and a song that follows while drawing. She isn’t telling us what the emotion she has in mind for the passage is, she’d rather that we listen to the passage and the music that follows and draw our response, taking note of the emotions we experience. Here is Alice with a quick intro before beginning the session:
The first passage is from Luka and the Fire of Life by Salman Rushdie.
and you can read the passage here:
This is the music to play after the passage and continue drawing.
The second passage is from The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Blue Bear by Walter Moers
And here is Alice reading that passage.

The third passage is from Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik.

Hope you enjoyed this terrific session. If you would like to share your drawings on social media, please use #DrawingTogetherGM so we can all see your work.
