Garden Wolf Publishing is seeking an illustrator for Where Your Eyes Can’t Go, a rhyming children’s picture book by husband-and-wife co-authors, clinical pharmacologist Erica Winter and psychiatrist Eli Shalenberg. The book takes young readers on a journey to explore the human body (the heart, blood vessels, and cells), introducing basic cell biology in a way that’s fun and never dumbed down. Targeting ages 6–9.
They’re looking for a textured, organic, and detailed style with an old-school aesthetic (think pencil or watercolor, though digital execution like Procreate is welcome) rather than flat, vector, or slick digital illustration.
Scientific accuracy matters: they need someone comfortable rendering anatomy and biology in a way that’s detailed and true to the science, while still feeling warm and captivating for kids. Experience with children’s books, graphic novels, or science/medical illustration is a strong plus.
