There were several graphic medicine relevant Eisner Award winners at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend. Lynda Barry has been sharing comics about her experiences with (and treatment for) SSHL: Sudden Sensorionural Hearing Loss. She wants to share the important message that, “If you are experiencing sudden or rapidly degrading hearing loss in one ear, this is a medical emergency, and time is of the essence. Seek medical help immediately and make it clear that you need a test for Sudden Hearing Loss. (SSHL) Ear Nose and Throat clinics, Urgent Care and Emergency rooms should react quickly to these words.”
