I feel like I’m late to the party. My name is Dean Scott and I am a cartoonist, veterinarian, author, and humorist, not necessarily in that order. I have been drawing cartoons since about 1986 and have had no formal illustrative training (which is probably obvious). I currently have nine veterinary or animal-related cartoon/humor books as well as two children’s books in print, and three more planned books. There are very few cartoonists in our field and I’ve always felt there should be more humor. Cartooning started out (and continues to be) as a form of therapy for myself, and I realized how much other enjoyed my illustrative viewpoints. I like to think in my small way that I can help alleviate another’s burden even if for a brief chuckle.
