Our latest Spotlight on projects and people within the Graphic Medicine international community focuses on Rebecca Kyser, a medical librarian making instructional comics for medical students.
About the Artist
I am a medical librarian at George Washington University, Himmelfarb Library. While health informatics are critical parts of our healthcare system, they can be difficult to teach about in a way students find engaging. In an effort to make some of these topics more accessible, I launched a series of comics covering the topic known as “Surviving the Stacks” on the library blog. The series covers topics related to health librarianship, good scholarship, data use and the history of medicine and some other fun topics. We’ve been at it for over a year now, and I hope to create more comics that serve as a resource for educators.
