This Week in Graphic Medicine in a Stranger Things Stylized Font
‘This Week in Graphic Medicine’ highlights relevant articles (and tweets) about comics in medicine published during the week (Saturday – Friday). Links are typically presented without commentary, unless clarification of relevance is necessary, with credit given to those who flagged them up where possible. So without further ado…

***IMPORTANT NOTE***

This Week in Graphic Medicine will be on hiatus after this post until after the Comics and Medicine Conference! I have been behind on these all summer and with two upcoming conferences and looming deadlines, there is just no way around this break – the first long one in the two years since starting these. I will be back after the conference and I promise to play catch-up as best as possible! (I am brainstorming ways to do so in smaller chunks – we’ll see how it goes.)

I will still be reachable on Twitter, by email, and I hope to see all of you in Vermont!

Matthew’s Pick of the Week…

Since I didn’t manage to keep up with SDCC on social media much this year, I thought this week I just had to highlight Brian Fies blog post capturing his trip there this year – at which he was awarded an Inkpot!

You may also want to check out the upcoming inaugural Comic Studies Society conference! Some coverage over at the Illinois iSchool, where the conference is being hosted. You can also head over to the Mind the Gaps! conference page on Facebook where you’ll find preliminary schedules and more. Note there’s a session on graphic medicine (you’ll find me there)!

And, as you’ll see below, there are a BUNCH of comics this edition. You should read them all of course, but if you are short on time, scroll straight to Nathan Gray’s Cruel Carousel. It is timely, powerful, and something I think we’ll be sharing for years to come.
