Having a Vaccine for Coronavirus

More from this series here.

“When Peanuts Went All in on Vaccinations” – an important cautionary tale by Maki Naro and Matthew Francis

A NHS doctor working in Doncaster, UK has been creating comics about COVID and the vaccines under the pseudonym Teebs Doodles. The goal of the comics is to debunk conspiracy theories. More comics can be found here.

Alex Thomas, Graphic Medicine International Collective board member, physician, and cartoonist shared this comic about his vaccine experience. You can see his comic about having COVID here.

Skipper Coates, also known as the Real Ms. Frizzle on social media, is a teacher helping students and fellow educators better understand vaccines. Through the use of comics, Coates is hoping to educate students on the COVID-19 vaccine and how it uses mRNA to create antibodies. While there is more to immunology than these comics can capture, these images help simplify the information for students and educators.  (thanks to the USA Science & Engineering Festival Newsletter for flagging this comic up.)

Coates has also provided a free Google Slides lesson highlighting her fun comics for teaches to use in their classrooms! Part 2 of the COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine will be posted as soon as it is available.
